Workshop Wednesdays - Card Design with Adinkra Symbols

Adinkra symbols are visual representations of concepts/proverbs develop by the Akan people of Ghana. Historically the symbols were used by royalty and wealthy individuals for burials to pay tribute to the legacy and or character of the individual. Today they are used extensively as decorative designs in textiles and design in general. Join African art for an afternoon of unique card design using Adinkra symbols with local graphic artist designer Sharmila Karamchandani.This workshop is presented as part of the museum’s series of Workshop Wednesdays. Every first and third Wednesdays of the month, stop by the museum for drop-in classes from trained teachers. Stay for as little or as long as you like to complete your masterpiece.
