In this 45-minute, beginner workshop you will learn about and practice the yoga of breath, or pranayama. Prana is the Sanskrit word for "life energy". Pranayama is the harnessing of that energy, through control of the respiratory breath, to promote balance and effect healing in body, mind, and spirit. PREREQUISITES: No experience necessary. A regular practice of yoga, meditation, or other mindful movement is helpful, but not required. You must be able to sit and breath for long periods of time, on the floor or on a chair. WHAT TO BRING: Chairs will be available, as well as a limited number of yoga blocks for floor seating. If you have a meditation cushion or other portable seat, you are welcome (and encouraged) to bring it for your comfort.
