Poetry Hike - Lucille Clifton
Join MoonLit founder Kris on a gentle hike through Rock Creek Park and experience the joy of hearing the poet Lucille Clifton's words shared out loud. Bring a poem to share and a notebook to jot down inspiration from the trees, the sky, and one another. About the Instructor: Kristen Zory King is a writer and artist facilitator based in Washington, DC. She is a 2019 recipient of an Arts and Humanities Fellowship through the DCCAH and a 2018-2019 5th Woman Fellow. A passionate advocate for the arts and community, Kris is the founder of MoonLit, an organization that provides low cost literary programming in DC, Baltimore, and Virginia. Some of her previously published work can be found in Electric Lit, SWWIM, Poetry Breakfast, and Lipstick Party Magazine. For more information, please visit kristenzoryking.com. *We will meet at the Rock Creek Park entrance on 17th St (in between Newton Street and Rock Creek Parkway). Kris will be in touch with you before the workshop with more details on where to meet and her cell number. We will hike a mostly-gentle 2-mile loop with multiple stops to write and share work. There are a few steep hills in the trail. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring something to write with (and a favorite poem or two!). Scholarships are available for this workshop. If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, please send a few sentences about yourself, your goals as a writer, and an outline of how you would benefit from a scholarship through the contact form on our website.
