PG Power Moves! April

Saturday, April 27, 2019, 1:30 AM

Calling all Power Movers to our monthly artful networking event that features: a live performance, an art auction, an atmosphere of networking and fellowship, as we acknowledge notable people of color that live work and play in Prince George’s County or the DC Metropolitan area. We have our finger on the pulse of the progressive professional. We give respect and honor to the people paving the way for the region, celebrating those who have shown outstanding impact or influence. The PG Power Mover will be honored during the event and speak to the audience about their past, present and future power moves. This month we honor Shellee Haynesworth! Shellée M. Haynesworth is an award-winning and passionate multimedia producer and storyteller. She has filmed across the United States and in other countries including India, Kenya, and Ethiopia to produce “eye-to-eye” storytelling experiences and content centered on arts and culture, education, humanities and social justice issues. She has created and produced projects for clients such as USAID, Smithsonian Institution, Gates Foundation, PBS, Black Entertainment Television, and HBO. Her latest independent, emerging media endeavor, “Black Broadway on U, a living digital history project, curates and chronicles DC’s storied black U Street community at the intersection of black storytelling and immersive technology. In the early to mid 20th century, the community was a significant crossroad, cultural and intellectual hub for African Americans known as “Black Broadway.” Her recent honors include the D.C. Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment’s February 2019 Filmmaker of the Month and recognition as a local community influencer and culture leader by the Prince George’s African American & Cultural Center’s #MoreThanAMonth campaign. She is a past fellow of the Black Public Media’s 360+ Incubator and past president of Women in Film and Video in Washington, DC. Currently, a member of the Producers Guild of America and advisory board member of Women in Film and Video. She earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Maryland at College Park.
