National Traffic Incident Management Training - LifeCare

We are proud to announce another session of the SHRP2 - National Traffic Incident Management Responder Training in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  With the current amount of traffic on the roadways these days, public service personnel are always reminded of Safe, Quick Clearance.  This training is designed to inform attendees of procedures on clearing incident scenes quickly with a well coordinated, multi-disciplinary teams of first responders and transportation personnel, in an effort to reduce the risk of injury to those on-scene, reduce the risk of secondary crashes, and reduce delays due to congestion. This training has been endorsed by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST), and the Towing and Recovery Association of America (TRAA). This is open to ALL Law Enforcement, Fire, Rescue, EMS, Public Works, Transportation, Towing and Recovery, Media, and Communications Personnel.  The training will last for 4 hours and attendees will be able to earn in-service hours through DCJS, OEMS, and/or VDFP.  If you know of anyone else who might benefit from this training, please pass on the invite.  Feel free to contact Sergeant Smith at jonathan.smith@vsp.virginia.gov if you have any questions. Please note, per Virginia Department of Fire Programs, the occupation of Firefighting has been declared hazardous by the Commissioner of Labor and Industry pertaining to teenagers. Adolescence under the age of 17 years old (which constitutes Junior Firefighter) are prohibited from engaging in any training activities sponsored by the Virginia Department of Fire Programs, in conjunction with the Code of Virginia 40.1-79.1 nor will he or she be recognized or given credit for taking the course unless he or she is certified at the Firefighter Level I. All students must be over the age of 17 or if they are a recognized member of a Fire Department, he or she must have completed the Firefighter I certification program through the Virginia Department of Fire Programs as Junior Firefighter status
