Language, Culture, Community: Celebrating 15 years of Language Access in DC
Join us for our celebration of 15 years of Language Access in DC! On Wednesday, April 24th, 2019, the DC Office of Human Rights will host a celebration to honor and award the individuals, organizations, and advocates who have contributed to the greater accessibility and inclusion of DC's linguistically diverse communities. The DC Language Access Act of 2004 aims to eliminate linguistic barriers and ensure that all District residents, workers and visitors have equal access to local government services and programs, despite their English proficiency. As we observe the 15th anniversary of the passage of the Act this year, we note the tremendous progress we've made as a city and embrace the collection of cultures and languages that add to the beautiful fabric of the place we call home; and strive to continue to make the District a more welcoming and accessible city for all. The event will consist of an hors d'oeuvres reception followed by a special Language Access video screening and award ceremony!
