Copy of Startup Workshop - Avoiding Technical Pitfalls
Building a startup is very hard but often, founders make it even harder on themselves by falling into avoidable technical traps. It is not unusual for a startup to get caught in a quagmire of technical issues which ultimately preclude any chance of success - no matter how strong the idea. In this workshop, we will explore the most common areas where startups stumble when developing their initial product. We will cover concepts such as: Choosing the right "tech stack" CMS (e.g. Wordpress) vs Custom Development Hiring technical personnel (Upwork, LinkedIn, Craigslist, etc) Budget Technical Debt WHO If you are part of a startup without a technical team or thinking of joining/launching your own startup, this workshop is for you. The startup world is littered with cautionary tales of companies that spent hundreds of thousands on a product no one wants, choosing the wrong technical solutions, or worse - the wrong technical personnel. Our presenter, Dan Kwon, will use real-world examples from his experience as a full-stack web and mobile engineer for 7 years with over 30 startups to identify the telltale signs to look out for when running your own startup. Most of these pitfalls are avoidable and fall into broad patterns that can be recognized early. SPEAKER Dan Kwon is a full stack software engineer who has been working with startups, development agencies, and corporations since 2012. He specializes in mobile development (iOS) and the web stack (Node JS, React / Redux / React Native, Python, AWS). In addition, he is the founder of Vertex 360 which is a highly scalable web deployment platform designed to make it faster and easier than ever to go from idea to launch.
