Communicating with Caregivers in the Age of Online Search
Join Capital Caring for a special networking happy hour and discussion with Dr. John Whyte, Chief Medical Officer at WebMD, on the changing paradigm of caregiver communication in the age of internet search. WebMD is one of the pioneers in medical websites and a trusted resource to provide credible information, supportive communities, and in-depth reference material online. The discussion, Moderated by Tom Koutsoumpas, Interim President and CEO of Capital Caring, will explore how providers can embrace the shift of information to create more meaningful discussions with caregivers and patient families. Along with exploring Dr. Whyte’s observations and experience at WebMD, the dialogue will engage participants on tactics that advanced illness care providers can implement to better communicate with families. John Whyte, MD, MPH, is a popular physician and writer who has been communicating to the public about health issues for nearly two decades. At WebMD, Dr. Whyte develops strategic partnerships to create meaningful change around important public health issues. Prior to WebMD, Dr. Whyte served as the chief medical expert and vice president, health and medical education, at Discovery Channel where he developed educational programming that appealed to both a medical and lay audience.
