Doctors and Patients Bridging the Digital Divide

Tuesday, July 7, 2015, 9:00 AM - 9:30 AM

Join us during National Health IT Week for this interactive breakfast panel where doctors, patient advocates and government representatives come together to discuss the impact and value of doctors engaging patients through health IT in an effort to improve patient health.
Health technology has the power to improve the delivery of care, increase patient safety, decrease medical errors, and strengthen the interaction between patients and healthcare providers. But it can also create challenges for providers and patients.  What can doctors do to maximize the potential of technology to improve care?  What workflows and techniques can providers implement to enhance their relationships with patients?  How can providers inspire patients to take an active role in their health management through health IT?

Michael West, MD, Washington Endocrine Clinic
Nikolai Kirienko, Patient Advocate, RWJF, Crohology.MD
Implementation Specialist, Clinovations

Jody Ranck, Healthcare Consultant; Author, "Connected Health: How Mobiles, Cloud and Big Data Will Reinvent Healthcare"

Registration for the event will be in the form of donations made to the Society of Participatory Medicine a 501(c)3 public charity devoted to promoting the concept of participatory medicine by and among patients, caregivers and their medical teams and to promote clinical transparency among patients and their physicians through the exchange of information, via conferences, as well through the distribution of correspondence and other written materials.
